Still the most interesting aspect we all want to understand is the Personality Types that we belong do.
Sometimes we have received a comment from others on the type of personality we have and a lot of times we have made a comment about others on the same.
But do we really understand the meaning of these personality types or is it just on the basis of our subjective understanding.

In this article we’ll try to identify the exact Personality Types that exists and the explanatory difference among them.
In the end this article will give you an intact and precise elucidation on the Personality Traits and Types which will give you edge over others in recognizing what Personality Types humans have and what traits these personality types demonstrate.

Personality Traits are the characteristics that have an impact on the behavior of an individual.

Personality Type is the collection of these traits. In simple terms Personality Type categorizes people on the basis of their thoughts, feeling, action and reaction towards anything in their external environment.

The two most prevalent frameworks that exists in Psychology to identify and categorize personality types are

  1. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
  2. Big Five Personality Model

Also these assessment tools are most often applied in the Organizational setup to identify the personality type the prospective or the current employees are having and accordingly establish the employee and job profile fitment. Therefore these frameworks are of utmost importance in the study of Organizational Behavior.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

This tool which is 100 questions based questionnaire asking how people would react to different situations they encounter in their external environment or how do they feel or act towards a particular external stimuli (namely a situation) was developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers.

Based on the responses gathered the individuals are classified as:

Extraverted Vs. Introverted (E or I)

Extraverted will show traits like being people friendly, outgoing, dialogue initiators and assertive.

Introverted are quiet, prefer to answer and avoid asking, shy and remain confined within their own self.

Sensing Vs. Intuitive (S or N)

You fall under the Sensing category if you focus on details, emphasize on facts, and you are more scientific or practical

Intuitive will prefer to rely on hunches or visionary ability when making decisions and focus less on facts and data. Rather than focusing on small little details intuitive will focus on the complete picture

Thinking Vs. Feeling (T or F)

Thinking ones while dealing with issues and problems focus on logic. They deliberately use their reasoning skills.

Feeling ones give preference to how they feel towards the issue and to them logic is secondary.

Judging Vs. Perceiving (J or P)

Judging ones prefer control and want things to be structured properly, following a schedule or routine, they focus on setting goals and attaining them. They are planned and organized.

Perceiving ones have an endless approach towards life and they are more casual rather than structured. They are more flexible.

But it doesn’t end here; further the combination of the above classification gives 16 Personality Types.
These 16 types are generated on the basis of including one trait from each of the four pairs mentioned.

For Example:
